Diamond Grading

4Cs of Diamond Quality is the universal method for assessing the quality of any diamond, anywhere in the world and is trusted by museums, auctions houses, and consumers all over the world to grade nature’s finest diamonds.

Diamond Grading

Gemstone Identification

IIDG examines each gemstone using cutting-edge technology to establish whether it was mined organically, developed in a lab, or was created artificially. Graduate gemologists with experience perform additional evaluations under controlled circumstances, describing pertinent gemological traits in accordance with the most stringent international standard. If definitive gemological examination identifies the country of origin, it is stated along with a thorough image.

Jewelry Quality Analysis

IIDG has unmatched competence in the analysis and documentation of finished jewelry pieces, which is more complicated than the study of loose gemstones. IIDG offers rigorous, objective, and professional analysis of finished jewelry products without disassembling heirlooms or intricate pieces.

IIDG Jewelry reports include clear, standardized images that clearly demonstrate any intricacies of craftsmanship that could not otherwise be evident, as well as all gemstone and mounting details.

Sealed Report facilities

A summary of your diamond’s IIDG report is enclosed as part of the sealing procedure and is visible from the back. The seal is set to break when the package is opened because a chemically produced pattern is released.

Screening

IIDG inspects each diamond using cutting-edge technology to verify whether it was mined naturally, created in a lab, or was a simulant.

A stamp stating the date of analysis, seal number, test result (“Natural Diamond”), total parcel weight, and client reference are placed on tamper-proof bags that contain natural diamonds.

The bags that natural diamonds come in are impenetrable. The bag has void labels attached that list the date of the analysis, the seal number, the testing result (“Natural Diamond”), the overall weight of the package, and the customer reference.

Sorting

IIDG examines each diamond using cutting-edge technology to establish whether it was made in a lab or was mined naturally. The diamonds are then returned to you in IGI D-Boxes with the following information:

  • Color grading (range of two or three colors: D-F, G-H, I-J)
  • Clarity Grading (range of two or three clarities: IF-VVS1, VVS2-VS1, VS2-SI1)
  • Cut/Finish grade on request (one overall grade)
  • AQL (accepted quality limit) applicable upon request
  • Other parameters such as measurements and fluorescence can be provided on request

Laserscribe

Inscription using laser technology is widespread in the diamond sector. Alphanumeric characters, a business logo, or even a custom message can be engraved on the girdle, or outer circumference, of your diamond using an extremely fine and precise laser beam.

By using Laserscribe® to add your IIDG report number to the diamond’s girdle, you can quickly identify and confirm all of its gemological information.

CVD

Chemically, physically, and visually, CVD diamonds are similar to mined diamonds. The origin is the only thing that differs. They are grown in a laboratory as opposed to being mined from the earth’s surface. Because CVD diamonds are created entirely of carbon, they are true diamonds in every respect. Their purity is on par with Type IIa diamonds, which are the purest form of diamonds.

In Chemical Vapor Deposition, diamonds are produced by exposing the natural diamond seed to extreme pressure, temperature, and gas infiltration inside the machine chambers. The most pure type of diamond is a Type IIa diamond, which is created when the gases dissolve the carbon on top of the seed under high pressure and temperature. Due to the fact that CVD is a capital-intensive, complicated technology that is also very difficult to copy, there are now only a few number of players worldwide.
